Over 15 members & associates of CARV convened for two hours on Saturday May 20, 2023 for an interactive, energy-filled meeting to re-imagine the future purpose and activities of the organization. Darwin Popenoe and Naashom Marx planned the session using a common business-oriented brainstorming/prioritization rubric, although certain details were changed during the meeting for best output given the limited time. In the early step to define areas of focus, the group converged on three: advocacy, support of Returned and prospective volunteers, and community building/the Third Goal. Break-out groups for each of those three defined and captured details of how CARV would bring each of the focus areas to life—included in the body of the report, attached. The break-out groups were followed by a closing discussion amongst the entire group, and topped off with cake celebrating Gayle Linkletter’s birthday.
