Janet Berger (Korea ’67 – ’69) and Bill Berger (Brazil ’66 – ’69) recently toured South Korea with a group of 87 other RPCVs and spouses as part of a “Thank You” tour sponsored by the government of that country. South Korea is the only Peace Corps country to have achieved “first world” status and they are grateful to the Peace Corps for its role in that achievement. This was the eighth such tour and it was memorable for both Jane and Bill.
As they told the CARV March 2019 Gathering, once they arrived in Seoul, all arrangements were made and provided by South Korea. They toured Seoul, visited the Korean Peace Corps office, had fabulous meals and then were escorted to the town where Janet served. She was reunited with members of her host family, including sisters, brothers and a lovely aunt who recognized her from the back of a crowded meeting. Here are some of the highlights of the trip.
