The Ten Thousand Villages O’Bryonville location hosted CARV on August 18th for an evening of fair trade shopping, wine and cheese and catching up with friends. Rachel, the manager of the store, explained the idea behind Ten Thousand Villages, which guarantees fair compensation to the artisans who make home goods, jewelry and apparel for the company. We appreciated the generous discount she offered and we will cherish the gifts and other items we purchased. It is gratifying to see beautiful art and craft items sourced from countries where we served. Samantha, who served in Ethiopia from 2014 – 2016, spotted jewelry that was made in a factory she had visited. The store is located at 211 Madison Road.
